Woodburning and Multifuel Stoves - 2022 ECODESIGN STOVES

Woodburning and Multifuel Stoves offer numerous advantages, making them popular for home heating. Wood, a renewable resource, provides a sustainable and cost-effective fuel option, fostering energy independence and reducing reliance on the grid. Modern stove designs emphasise energy efficiency, extracting maximum heat from the fuel and minimising waste. Beyond functionality, these stoves contribute to a cosy ambience, enhancing the aesthetic appeal of homes. Their versatility is evident in multi-fuel stoves, capable of burning various solid fuels. Furthermore, wood burning is considered carbon-neutral when sourced sustainably, offering an environmentally friendly alternative to fossil fuels. Responsible practices, such as sustainable wood harvesting and adherence to air quality standards, are crucial to minimise environmental impact. Supporting local economies through the purchase of regional firewood adds another layer of community and environmental responsibility to the use of these heating solutions.

At CountryHeat Direct we are dedicated to finding the best stove for you. Whether you want subtle, simple lines that let the beautiful flames do the talking or an eye-catching piece for the centre of your room, we have a stove perfect for every interior.

What is an Ecodesign Stove and why should I buy one?

Ecodesign is the European-wide programme to lower emissions. It came into force for stoves in the UK in 2022.  Ecodesign stoves will meet the Ecodesign requirements and are fully available. The PM emissions limit for Ecodesign is 55% lower than for DEFRA exempt stoves. Burning wood produces particulate matter (PM) but the amount produced depends on how the wood is burnt. Ecodesign Ready stoves can reduce particulate emissions by 90% compared to an open fire and 80% compared to an old stove. In its Clean Air Strategy Defra recognises that all wood burning is not the same and that reductions in particulate emissions, (PM), can be achieved through the installation of Ecodesign stoves burning Ready to Burn logs. The Mayor of London showed his support for Ecodesign stoves by sponsoring two adverts in the Evening Standard encouraging Londoners to only burn dry wood and choose a Defra exempt stove which is also Ecodesign Ready.
